13 Days of Halloween 2012

Rather than do the 13 days of Halloween all consecutively right before Halloween, we just did 13 Halloween related crafts and games throughout the month. Here are a few things we did: 

1) Leaf place mats...always popular with the kids, they love to go on a hike, collect and dry the leaves, then remember their own special leaves throughout the month as we eat meals together.

Calvin made such a cute presence this season!





2)  Pumpkin silly face books. Totally fun...the eyes, nose and mouths were all interchangeable, so the pumpkin faces they could create were almost limitless!

3) Spooky Halloween House...lasted a day. We did this with our home fire drill FHE, which was totally fun.

4) Face Masks

5) Halloween straw cups, made to go with our annual Halloween dinner of meal in a pumpkin, but I didn't catch a picture of the meal this year. We like to set the table all Halloween-y, which is fun, and the kids each had their own fun cup.

6) Halloween story books....cute and fun stories the kids enjoyed this season

7) Visit to he pumpkin patch to pick a pumpkin for carving, Jackson also painted his our ghost from a gourd as a kindergarten project. It was cute! We grew huge pumpkins this year and had fun on carving night! 

8) Cheesecloth ghosts...this year we skipped the starch and made them from bouncy balls. Still cute and fun and less messy!  

9) Decorating Halloween cupcakes....usually we do cookies, but this year it was cupcakes! We got gifted a cute little decorating set from our neighbors.

10) Family Halloween Party! Zoey and I were witches, Jackson was a robot, and Eli was a monkey. Calvin was the cutest little turtle.

11) Movie night... this year it was Where the Wild things Are. A favorite bedtime story, but not so favorite movie. Brian and I were bored out of our minds. Jackson liked it though. 

12) Game night- Monsters. Totally fun dice and draw game. Kids loved it and played it all the time! we went through a lot of paper, Jackson has a pile of favorite monsters he's drawn! We also did the pumpkin balloon game where the kids pop a balloon to find a prize inside. It was a hit.

13) Halloween! We had school costume parades (Zoey's picture is on another camera and will be posted soon) and went trick or treating with Grandma and Grandpa Gray. It was a blast! The kids turned their candy in for cash and toothbrushes at our dentist the following morning...and then I took them to Target to get a toy with their earnings (plus some help). Love Halloween , but Glad it's over and looking forward to Thanksgiving! The Halloween decorations are already down!
